Introducing Nour Hachem-Fawaz president of BUILD A DREAM - transforming how young women approach career exploration, advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives, and closing the workforce gender gap.
Q. Why did you start your business?
A. I want to change global perspectives on women’s contribution to society. Inspired by my mother’s perseverance to excel in a male-dominated field, I dug deep into the ‘why’ behind the lack of women in skilled trades. I realized that the barriers keeping women out of these rewarding careers were common to other male-dominated paths and created a non-profit to encourage and empower young women to explore careers that challenge the status quo.
Q. What do you offer (service/product)?
A. Build a Dream is a national not-for-profit organization that uses our network to connect four key areas of career path attraction, recruitment, retention, and advancement. We
- Inform young women about opportunities and planning their career path
- Aid educators with new career resources and professional development
- Assist industry to fill skills gaps and retain talent
Through strengthening the career journey in all areas, across all sectors, we are able to work towards the end goal of building a diverse workforce.
Q. What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs?
A. "We must dig deep and remember our "WHY". Lead with purpose and lead with heart at the center of everything"
