How do I put myself out there in my personal branding photos? (Out of your comfort zone)
What really happens when you put yourself out there?…
I was chatting with a team member last week about being personally visible in your marketing and specifically what happens when you do...
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I posted an image of myself last week, plus a few sentences asking people to join my newsletter.
Here's the thing... I felt totally out of my comfort zone! I was posting a photo of myself AND asking people to sign up for my list? Gasp!
I think many can relate...
That voice in your head says - "Who am I to post photos of myself and offer insights on _________ topic".
If this isn't you, feel free to skip to the bottom where I reveal the outcome and the measurable results from this Instagram post.
You should know 2 important things if you're apprehensive about posting about yourself.
Remember:
- People want to see you, so they feel like they know you, when deciding if you're the right person to help them solve their problem.
- Contrary to what you may think, when people see photos of you, they aren't thinking, "Who does she think she is..." Instead, they feel as though they're getting to know you better!
In this digital world, a headshot hidden on your website's about page isn't going to make anyone feel like they know, like and trust you.
But a well-thought-out visual personal brand will attract the right people and repel the wrong ones. (Good Riddance!!)
Here's what happened with my Instagram post...
My average newsletter sign-up rate increased by approx. 200% every day for 4 days after the post. Pretty good!
If you're nervous about putting yourself out there - listen I'm right there with you.
You can start with action or in-the-moment photos: for example, a photo of you interacting with a product you've created.
Be courageous - every little bit counts!
You've got this, I have faith in you!
Wishing you a fulfilling and productive week!
Warmly,
Heike
